New Haven Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine was founded in 1975 by several local veterinarians to improve their individual abilities to practice veterinary medicine through centralization of staff, equipment, facilities and ideas. We are a small-animal practice, which means our primary focus is on cats and dogs.

Our current in-house staff includes six doctors supported by a hospital team of nurses, technicians, handlers and administrators. Central Hospital is also supported by 10 associated member doctor clinics in the greater New Haven area.

Open and fully staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by experienced veterinarians and technicians, we provide:

• Routine and sick care by appointment

• Round-the-clock urgent and emergency care

• Veterinary specialists in surgery and radiology/ultrasound

"...the vital reinforcement beneath Central's facility and technology is a staff who have taken a genuine love and concern for animals and made it their livelihood." - Advocate Best of New Haven, 2009

"They take pride in an empathetic staff that finds reconnecting animals with their owners truly rewarding. And they understand pets are companions and family members. Ken Aldrich, the hospital director, insists that "the clients make it happen. Their devotion makes our job possible." - Advocate Best of New Haven, 2008
