BRIEF HISTORY: Duluth Veterinary Hospital was established in the late 1940's. Since that time we have gone through two ownership changes and one location change. We have been at our current location, 2015 London Road, since 1989 under the current ownership of Dr. Steve Schuder. Our hospital received AAHA certification in 1998. AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) gives accreditation to hospitals that have voluntarily achieved the high standards of the AAHA. The standards pertain to facilities, equipment, practice methods, and management.

Dr. Schuder is the owner of the hospital. He grew up in Grand Rapids, MN. Steve attended Montana State University for his undergraduate studies in Animal Science. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 1990. He belongs to the American Animal Hospital Association, the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, and the Arrowhead Veterinary Medical Association. He is also a member of Hillside Methodist Church, and he is a board member on the Northland Spayed/Neuter Council, and the Duluth East Athletic Association.

Our pet care focus is on keeping your pet healthy and happy. We achieve that through performing thorough annual physical exams, preventative immunizations, and regular testing for viruses, parasites, and other specific conditions. As pets live longer, more active lives, they can benefit from physical examinations at six month intervals and routine blood screening for early detection of common geriatric health conditions.

Pets often develop medical conditions that can be alleviated through dietary management. Together we can determine a dietary plan suitable for such conditions as heart disease, kidney or liver problems, obesity, or other ailments.
