Family-Owned and Operated

Since opening in 1996, Cadbury Commons has remained a family-owned and operated Independent and Assisted Living Community. The Kelley family continues the vision of founder Charles Kelley (shown below with his wife Margaret).

Charles Kelley devoted his life to caring for our elder population.

Beginning his professional career in the nursing home industry, he discovered an unmet need in care. This led to building the Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital. He saw this as the beginning of essential services for seniors recovering from a variety of maladies.

A leader in Massachusetts in the assisted living movement.

Seeing great outcomes for patients was not enough, as he soon realized that the ability to return to an independent lifestyle, with assistance, held few options. Recognizing the need for adult-focused, meaningful options, he became a leader in Massachusetts in the assisted living movement.

The Kelley Family Commitment

In the late 80's, Charles started developing assisted living facilities and, in 1995, broke ground here. Following his untimely death later that year, the baton was passed to his children to continue to build and open the doors to Cadbury Commons in September 1996.

One of his children, Anne Noone, RN, MSW picked up where her dad left off and did an incredible job running Cadbury Commons for many years until sidelined by ill health. Anne's sister, Elinore Barrett, M.Ed., now walks the halls of Cadbury Commons as President, so proud of its heritage and humbled to be a part of its very caring extended family.
